Volunteer Agreement

 

The Greens for Newtown Campaign and the Annandale Campaign Office are a racism, sexism, homophobia and transphobia free space. We are working to create a better world that embraces diversity and justice.

There is a Code of Conduct which covers the rights and responsibilities of volunteers and includes more detail on responding to harassment, the complaints process and resolving conflict. It is available in the campaign office and online at: https://www.greensfornewtown.org/code_of_conduct

 

Be considerate, respectful and collaborative

You will be working as part of a team. This team and its members treat one another with respect. Everyone can make a valuable contribution and collaboration is central to our work. Disagreement is no excuse for disrespectful behaviour. Political campaigning means engaging with people we disagree with respectfully, but if someone is being offensive you don’t need to give them any more of your time.

 

Maintain confidentiality

As a volunteer you will have access to sensitive campaign and political information. If you are given access to confidential material you must safeguard and keep this confidential at all times. You should never access Greens data or electoral roll data without asking permission first.

 

If unsure, seek assistance

Asking questions helps clarify issues and avoids many problems down the road, so questions are encouraged! Those who are asked questions should be responsive and helpful.

 

Safe workplace

You have the right to a safe space to volunteer. If you see anything that might be dangerous or cause an accident (wires on the floor, spilt water etc..), let a staff member know ASAP.

 

Harassment will not be tolerated

Harassment includes any unwelcome behaviour that could be reasonably expected to make someone feel offended, humiliated or intimidated. Harassment can occur in person, over the phone, and via email, text or other electronic or written forms of communication, including social media. A volunteer who believes they have been harassed should follow the complaints process found in the Code of Conduct. Staff are trained in the policy and can assist you.
